| Fixed-axle yo-yo's are the least expensive kind of yo-yo, because they
are easier for companies to make and don't sleep very well. A fixed-axle yo-yo has the
string looped directly around the axle. Some people like this type because of the price
and how easily they come back up. Some examples of this type are all of the Duncan yo-yo
family, Pro-Yo 2s, and Cosmic Yo-Yo's. If it is under $4, it's most likely a fixed-axle. |
Trans-axles are the new high-tech yo-yo's. Rather than the string being
wrapped around the axle itself, it goes around a separate piece attached to the axle, so
these yo-yo's can sleep for a very long time. Their only drawback is the price, costing
anywhere from $10 to $130. Some examples of trans-axles are the Yomega Fireball, the Turbo
Bumble Bee, and the Millenium 2000. |
