If you are new to yo-yo's you probably want to learn some fun ticks, but before you learn any complex tricks you must learn THE BASICS
This one is the basic of all basics. You throw it down and it comes back up. If you can't do this trick I suggest another hobby for you.
This is another pretty basic one. you start out with your palm facing up with the string coming off the top of the yo-yo. Throw it off your hand with a quick jerk of the wrist. If you keep your hand still after this the yo-yo should stay at the bottom of the string and spin. If your yo-yo doesn't sleep your string may be too tight, you can fix this by letting it dangle at the bottom of the string and turning it counter-clockwise. If this doesn't work it usually means you bought a cheap piece of crap yo-yo and should buy another one of a different brand because the sleeper is an essential part of most tricks.
To do this trick hold the yo-yo down at your side with your palm facing down and the string coming off the top then throw the yo-yo straight out in front of you, it should go straight out, parallel to the floor and come back to your hand.
These tricks are still relatively easy, but harder than the basics.
A pretty basic trick, throw a sleeper and touch the ground with the spinning yo-yo. Follow your yo-yo as it "walks" forward. Start out by just walking a few steps, then as you get better you can travel a farther distance. this works best on a surface with short firm carpeting.
This is another walk the dog varient. touch the soinning yo-yo to the ground and touch the end of the string as well. a slight tug should bring it back.
This is pretty much just walking the dog on a piece of folded paper. It makes a sound allot like a electric saw. Also try this on different items for different sounds and send your favorites to me at zurc@tusco.net My personal favorites is doing this on a c.d. case(the plastic kind).
This one is a good prank to get someone you don't like wet. Throw a sleeper then put just a little bit of the bottom in some water and two streams will fly off the back of the yo-yo. I don't really suggest doing this with an nice yo-yo because if you put it in to far the insides will get wet(this is known to really screw up automatic return yo-yo's).
This is the hardest of the level 2 tricks. You start out with your hand down and the yo-yo in your palm with the string coming off of the top. Swing your arm up and let go when your arm is parallel to the ground and swing the yo-yo around 1 time (360°) than pull it back with slight tug of your hand. After you have mastered this you can see haw many times you can get it too go around on one throw, my record is 9.
Congradulations! You have learned how to do the basics and level 2 tricks (or you are too inmpatient to learn so you skiped to the better ones). Now it's time for bigger and better things!
To do this trick throw a fast sleeper and pinch the string halfway down(with you left hand), then pinch with your right hand between your left hand and the spinning yo-yo.pull your right hand down making the cradle and siwing the yo-yo trough it .drop it all and it should come back with no knots.
This one is hard to explain, so see pic.
